Evans Howick Ranck, age 79, passed away peacefully August 31, 1994, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Evans was born May 16, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carl Peter and Keziah Maud Howick Ranck. When Evans was three, his mother, Keziah, died and the following year his father married Abbie Stout. It was Abbie's motherly love and guidance that influenced Evans life.
He married Alta Workman Nelson, July 19, 1950 in Farmington, Utah: She preceded him in death on July 22, 1976. Evans worked for a few years of the depression in a "C.C.C." group in Southern Utah. He served his country during WWII in the 2nd Marine Division. in the Asiatic Pacific Theater; and was a member of the Magna VFW, Post 7398. Evans was the owner and operator of the Breeze Inn Restaurant in East Millcreek for over 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, and bowled in several leagues throughout the Salt Lake valley.
Survived by four sons, Ron Nelson, Bill (and Linda) Nelson, Jack Nelson and Carl Ranck; a daughter, LaVerle N. Robbins; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Elva Judd, LaVern Thrash, Maudie Strode, Beulah Jackson and Ruby Haskins. Preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 6th, 11 am, at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, where friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm, and Tuesday for one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens.
