Provisional Governor of Nebraska Territory. He was buried with Masonic honors, his grave remained unmarked for many years. Proposals to fund a suitable monument for Walker met with derision in the state legislature, which reportedly put on a brief but amazing display of ignorance and anti-Indian prejudice. Erected by Kansas Chapter, Daughters of Founders & Patriots of America 1915.
