Mr. Gus was born in Colleton County, S.C. He was the son of the late Albert Drawdy and Lanie Kinsey Drawdy. He died in Hampton County hospital from injuries after being struck by an automobile driven by T. H. Caldwell on highway 28 in Varnville, S.C. Testimony at the inquest indicated there was no eye witness and that Mr. Caldwell, driving east towards Yemassee, was blinded by lights of an oncoming car and failed to see Mr. Drawdy who was reportedly on the highway in the path of his car. Mr. Gus is survived by 2 sons, Harold and Joe Drawdy, 3 daughters, Celie Drawdy Reid, Ethel Drawdy Stanley and Idell Drawdy Belger, 1 brother, Harvey Drawdy, 23 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouse Minnie Lee Tuten Drawdy and a son W.Hansel Drawdy. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Thames Cemetery at 11 o'clock Monday morning by the Rev. J. W. Swindell.
