Mell Conner of Monroe died Jan. 27, 1992 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. He was 79.

He was born in Walton County on Sept. 5, 1912, son of the late Walter David Conner and the late Susie Pearl O'Kelley Conner. He was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Jan. 29 from the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Bowman officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers were Walt Harber, Bob Creighton, Myron Batchelor, Gobel Berry, Thurmond Alewine and Jimmy Queen.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Jimmy D. and Ann Conner of Monroe; sister; Mrs. Jesse (Hilda) Griffin of Charleston, S. C.; brothers; P. K. Conner of Monroe, Carl Conner of Mableton, John S. Conner of Athens and Hugh Conner of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson; David Conner of Monroe and Jeffrey "Bo" Conner of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; granddaughter; Toni Carper of Monroe; and great-grandchildren; Christopher Carper and Christin Carper, both of Monroe.

Meadows Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.
