Mrs. Elizabeth Rowe, a widow of 98 years, passed to her final reward Tuesday morning after an illness dating back almost eight years.
Mrs. Rowe, who was an esteemed and upright lady was born in the year 1812, on August 17, in Charles county, Virginia. She moved to Coal Grove in the spring of 1862, after her marriage with her husband Jonathan Rowe. It was during the residence at Coal Grove that her husband died in the year 1886. Mrs. Rowe had lived in Ironton about __ years, staying at her daughter's home on Third and ___ streets. Death was due to the infirmities of old age, and was not unexpected by her daughter, who had noticed a change for the worst in her condition. The deceased leaves the following children to mourn her loss, Guy and William H., of Coal Grove; James H. of Jackson; Mrs. Luanna Main and Mrs. Louisa Bailey of Ironton; James H., of Ashland, Mrs. David Campbell of Pike county, Ky., and David Rowe of Cairo, Ill. The funeral will be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at two o'clock and burial will follow in Newton Cemetery. Gholson Bros have charge of the arrangements.
