CLARENCE G. BURGE
WHEELER -- Clarence G. Burge, 86, died in his home in Wheeler Friday evening after an illness of three months.
Born May 1, 1878, in Wheeler, the son of Gaylon and Jennie (Gearhart) Burge, he married Leyetta Schneider on Sept. 13, 1899. She preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of the area, he farmed until 1926, when he went to work for United States Steel. He retired in 1947.
Surviving are one son, Cecil, of Wheeler; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Varnagis, of Hobart; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bartholomew Funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Dehn, Wheeler Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Mosier cemetery, Union township.
Friends may call at the funeral home this evening and until time of services Sunday.
