James Nelson Certain, a resident of Wilson County for 42, years, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning, January 19, at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Alva Lambert west of Fredonia.
The services will be held at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Home, the Rev. B.F. Ireland, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness church here, officiating, and burial will be in the Fredonia cemetery.
Mr. Certain was born in Washington County, Ohio., to John Bates Certain and Matilda Clark-Certain and had reached the age of 89 years, 3 months and 11 days at the time of death.
He was a well-known carpenter and farmer. Survivors include two sons, Devine Certain of Wenatchee, Wash., and Lon Certain of Montana; two daughter, Mrs. Ruth Crone of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Bertha Butner of New Albany; two brothers, Frank Certain of Neodesha and T. L. Certain of Pampa, Tex., and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Pew of Peabody and Mrs. Lizzie Greenawalt of Lafontaine. Several grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Certain's brother, John G. Certain, preceded him in death, having passed away last December 31 at his home in Lafontaine. He had reached the age of 80 years.
