Residing in Guilford County, North Carolina at the time of enlistment. Enlisted on July 15, 1862 at Guilford County, North Carolina as a Private in the 1st North Carolina Infantry, Company A at the age of 18. POW on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. Confined on May 20, 1864 to Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred to Elmira on August 6, 1864. Died of pneumonia as a POW.
