Whittemore -- Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer, Lawrence Meyer, Mrs. William Ostwald, Mrs. Burt Seely, and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Bruhn of Cylinder, attended the funeral of Martin Nissen, 62, at Eldora on Friday.

He had been ill for several months and died on Tuesday from cancer.

Mr. Nissen was a former Whittemore lad and arrived in Iowa with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Nissen from Wesenburg, Germany, when he was 10 years old. He was born on July 20, 1897.

He married Verda Edick at Hubbard, Iowa, on May 1, 1919, who with a son, Lloyd, Marshalltown, and a daughter, Mrs. Wesley Ramsden, Fort Dodge, survive; also one brother, Conrad, Mason City; and three sisters,Lizzie (Mrs. Nick) Looft, Armstrong, Anna (Mrs. George) Meyer, Whittemore, and Mamie (Mrs. Lee) Campbell, Mesa California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
