Died
On March 2, at her home in St Charles, Mrs. Mary Lewallen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh R. Duke, of Woodburn. Mrs Lewallen was reared at Woodburn and at the age of sixteen became a member of the M. E. church and was ever an upright, consistent Christian, noted for her good works. Her life was like some sweet toned musical instrument, never out of tune.
With her death a beautiful, useful life ended, a strong influence for good was withdrawn from the community. She leaves a husband and four little children all under ten years of age and a father and mother to mourn her loss. The remains were taken by her stricken husband and parents to Woodburn and laid to rest on Saturday, March 5, 1901.

Note: The headstone in inscribed with the date of death as March 3, 1904 and the obituary states the date of death as March 2, 1904.
