~0bit~Ralph Edward Akers, 77, a retired farmer from the Troy Mills area passed away at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 1986 at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, of cardio-pulmonary disease. He was born the son of Jeremiah and Vine Landis Sheppard Akers on June 29, 1908 near Oasis in Johnson County, Iowa. He was married to Alice Rosilla Price on February 8, 1933 at Central City, Iowa. Mr. Akers served for twelve years on the Troy Mills Consolidated school Board. Surviving are his wife: two sons, Ronald of Columbia, Maryland, and Donald of Riverside, Rhode Island; two daughters, Mrs. George (Judith) Berger of South Amana, and Mrs. Robert (Dianne) Graham of Bethel, Alaska; sixteen grandchildren; six brothers, James Arthur Akers of Cedar Rapids, Victor ____ Akers of Coggon, Jerimiah Jerry Akers Jr. and Eldon ____ Akers both of Central City, Vernon Lawrence Akers of Princeton, Minnesota, and Robert Dean Akers of Grinnell; and one sister, Mary Elena Courtney of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers. Services were held Thursday, May 22, 1986 at 1 p.m. at the Troy Mills Christian Church at Troy Mills. Conducted by: Rev. Tim Johnson. Interment: Troy Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may, if they wish, make a memorial contribution to the Troy Mills Fire Department Rescue Squad, in care of Lanny Rowe, Troy Mills, Iowa 552344.
