Eileen Gummersall Boyle
1928 - 1998

Eileen Gummersall Boyle, age 70, died April 19, 1998, in Provo, Utah after battling breast cancer for nine years. Throughout her bout with cancer, she maintained a positive attitude and fought long and hard.

She was born January 31, 1928, in Grace, Idaho, to Alta McClellan and George Hodgson Gummersall. She attended, and graduated from, school in Soda Springs, Idaho, and attended cosmetology courses at Idaho State College. She married in Soda Springs, November 12, 1949, Elmer P. Boyle. They had three children: Paul, Dennis and Terrel. Eileen loved to play golf and enjoyed traveling.

She was a professional ski instructor at Sundance and Snowbird Ski areas. She loved to cook and took great pride in her elaborate buffets. She volunteered at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for many years, serving in excess of 8500 hours. She established the Patient Hair Care program there and was past president of the Volunteers Auxiliary.

One of her great pleasures was cheering on her five grandchildren at their soccer and baseball games. We all loved her dearly and will greatly miss her.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 49 years, Elmer P. Boyle; two sons, Paul, of Salt Lake City; Dennis (Diana), of Provo; one daughter, Terrel, of Moab; and five grandchildren: Jon Paul, Craig, Michael, Aaron and Matthew (Dennis and Diana); her sisters: Beth Beus, of Soda Springs, ID; Elaine Climer, of Nampa, ID; and sister-in-law, Ann Gummersall, of Stone Mountain, GA. Preceded in death by her parents, Alta and George Hodgson Gummersall; brothers: Donald, Mark, John and Howard Gummersall.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 228 West 300 North, Provo, Utah, 84604. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 24, 1998 at 2:00 p.m., at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Mortuary one hour prior to services.
