Merion Eugene "Bud" Renschler, son of Harley J and Clarice Clark Renschler, was born March 1, 1915 at Warwick, Kansas in the home of his grandfather, James Clark, and died suddenly January 7, 1985 at his home at Johnson Lake. It was his grandfather Clark who first called him Bud, the name he used all his life.
When Bud was a small child his parents divorced and his mother moved to Hastings, Nebraska where she married William Bugg. Bill Bugg was the man Bud Renscher knew as a father. Bud, along with the Bugg family, moved to Juniata in 1929. There he attended high school and met his "first love", Maxine Wymore. Bud and Maxine were married at Harlan, Iowa where Bud was working, on July 28, 1934. Maxine would be his divoted wife for 50 years, 5 months and 10 days.
From 1934 until 1941 Bud worked as a salesman for his father-in-law, Andrew Burr Wymore. Bud and Maxine lived in several states during those seven years but always considered Juniata their home. Their first child, Shirley, was born and died on May 26, 1935 at Denver, Colorado. This was one of the greatest tragedies of their life together.
In 1941 Bud and Maxine moved back to their home-town, Juniata. While living at Juniata, Bud established Juniata Roofing Company, the business he would own for over 30 years until his retirement in 1973.
Bud and Maxine also managed for seven years the Showboat Motel and Service Station on East Highway 6 in Hastings. They returned to their home in Juniata where they lived from 1967 to 1973 when they moved to their cabin at Johnson Lake near Elwood, Nebraska.
Besides his wife, Maxine, Bud was survived by four daughters, Roberta (Robert) Sentelle of Gering, NE, Alberta (Dennis) Ernst of Anchorage, AK, Penny (Leo) Bures of Harvard, NE and Donis (Kennard) Moss of Excelsor Springs, Mo; two sons, Pat and Mike of Juniata; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters Leona (Ray) Cummings of Falls City, NE and Billie Crabtree of Sweet Home, OR.
