By 1746, Maria's farmer husband was ordained as the minister of the Mellinger Mennonite Church in Lancaster Co., Pa.

"I visited the Cemetery office on March 18 and spoke with the caretaker and the secretary regarding Maria Landis. I was told that records of burials in that time period are fragmentary at best. We checked the paper records and found no mention of this Maria Landis. However, there is a burial entry for a "son of Benjamin and Maria Landis". The son is not named."
