Hattie was born on Aug. 9, 1954, in Dublin, Miss., to Allan and Emma (Jackson) Leonard. She married James Coates, and to that union, two children were born, Jermaine Coates and Saprina Coates. Hattie later married Buford L. White. He preceded her in death in January 1999.
Hattie leaves her family to cherish her precious memories, including her mother, Emma Johnson of Peoria; her father, Allan (Georgia) Leonard of St. Louis; her children, Jermaine and Saprina Coates, both of Peoria, Cassandra (Victor) Fry-Coates of Memphis, Tenn., and Tracy Wilson of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Lisa Brown of St. Louis.
She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Howard Johnson.
Hattie had owned her own business as a medical billing specialist. She also formerly worked for PJ Catastrophe Services, where she managed a crew of cleanup and restoration specialists. She and her crew helped during the cleanup and restoration after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Hattie loved singing and shopping.
Hattie will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery.
