U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1893 and commenced to practice law at Napa, California. He was District Attorney of Napa County, (1895-1903). In 1903, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-eighth Congress, serving until 1905. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed practicing law until his death in an automobile accident at age 50.
