He was born in Kershaw County, son of Judson Young and Martha Elizabeth Russell Young. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and a retired lumber inspector. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, among whom are the following from Columbia; Mrs. Dewey Hagins, Mrs. T. D. Sligh, Mrs. F. W. Bouknight, Mrs. M. G. Coleman, Mrs. M. J. Knight, Mrs. Ollie Paschal, W. F. Young and Alonzo Cauthen.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Talbert Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Robert L. Deneen and Dr. Paul Wheeler. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be six great-nephews.
