Tennessee married William F. Barham on February 25, 1864 in Lawrence County, Missouri. Tennessee was widowed in 1888 and left to raise her six children, the youngest not quite three years old. Later in life she lived with her daughter Laura and Laura's husband Joseph Henry Turk.

Tennessee died suddenly while on a trip to Dallas, Texas, to visit her youngest daughter Kathryn.
