Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Dannie Robert Coker and Isla Ethel Driggers Coker.
Mr. Coker was retired from KD Construction Company in Hartsville as a Superintendent. He was a member of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee and Choir Director for years.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by three sisters; Burnette Coker, Virginia Moore and Janie Lee Coker; three brothers; Cleo Coker, A. R. "Jab" Coker and Howard "Pompy" Coker and s grandson, Scotty Durette Coker. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Daniels Coker; two daughters; Sheila Coker (Andy) Cole of Wake Forest, NC, and Michelle Coker (Chuck) Easler of Greeleyville, SC; two sons; Ricky (Angela) Coker and Daniel Vincent (Judi) Coker of Lake City; sister; Betty Coker Atkinson of New Zion; brother; W. L. "Mutt" Coker of Alcolu and nine grandchildren.
Interment: Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
