HARTFORD CITY - Julianna (Julie) Baker, 55, 1018 W. Grant St. died Wednesday at home after complications from a long illness.
Born in Covert, Mich., in Kalamazoo County, the daughter of the late Robert W. And Juanita B. Cummings Whiteman, she was a homemaker and a member of the Blackford Baptist Church. She moved to Hartford City from Pennville in 1996. Mrs. Baker formerly worked for Area 6 out of Muncie and worked in Dunkirk, Redkey and Albany. She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1966. She was a member of Live & Learn Home Economic Club of Blackford County, Jackson Newcomers Home Economic Club of Jay County and Pennville American Legion Auxiliary Post 0482.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Dale E. Baker; four daughters, Ashley M. Carlsen (husband: Eric W.) and Debbie L. Creveling, both of Hartford City, Carolyn S. Baker, Monticello, and Teresa Cooper (husband: Jesse), Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Bill Curtis (wife: Linda), Grand Haven, Mich., Barry Curtis and Jim Curtis; two sisters, Doris Woodrom, Dixon, Tenn., and Janis Curtis, Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Johnny, Jeff and Richie Hartley, Kenny and Kevin Joiner, and Rachel N. Johnson; several nieces and nephews, and family friends, Ginger Cronkhite and Mary Ann Jones, both of Hartford City.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., with Rev. Paul A. Isch and Rev. Larry Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Grand Memorial Park, Marion.
Calling will be 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. until services Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses c/o Keplinger Funeral Home.
