John Wesley Ahlgrim, Jr., 96, passed away at his home in Bosque Farms, NM, Sunday, March 25, 2007.

Wes was born in Shelby, IN, December 6, 1910, the son of John Wesley Sr. and Nellie.
His mother and his brother, Charles were killed in a tragic train accident in 1920.
His father, who was a very successful contractor, joined his brothers on a trek from Chicago to Santa Monica, CA. Upon reaching Albuquerque, his father found work as a carpenter and stayed here. Wes and his brother, Max went on to California and lived with their uncles.
Wes attended school and lived in California for ten years before returning to Albuquerque to live with his father.
He married Muriel Dorothy Keck June 7, 1936.
Wes worked for the railroad until retirement. He also owned a commercial chicken farm and sold real estate. Wes loved to hunt and fish. He loved New Mexico and California. Wes had fond memories of Santa Monica High School and attended one year at USC.
Wesley was very proud of being an Alumni of the University of New Mexico where he played football on the 1934 Championship Team, which is in the Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame.
He attended the Lobo football games and sat in the same seats until he was 94 years old.
Wesley and Muriel lived in Albuquerque where they raised seven children: four boys and three girls.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Max; his wife, Muriel; two grandchildren, Robert and Timmy; great-granddaughter, Taylor; and his second wife, Kathryn.

Wesley is survived by his seven children, Cloe Elaine Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT; Charles and Rea Ahlgrim of Albuquerque; Charlotte and Charles Dean of Commerce, OK; Chester and Linda Ahlgrim of Waterflow, NM; John and Pam Ahlgrim of Bosque Farms; Jacquie and John Stanfield of Greenwood Village, CO; and Jerry Ahlgrim of Farmington; 31 grandchildren; over 50 great-grandchildren; and at least two great-great-grandchildren. Wesley is also survived by his special friend of over twenty years, Rose Hainlen, now living in California.
