Funeral services for Herman Ehlert, 72, Embarrass, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, with the Rev. Walter List officiating. Burial was in the Parish cemetery. He died Sunday, Aug. 9, after a long illness.
Mr. Ehlert was born April 8, 1881 in Neenah. He came to this community as a youngster with his parents and in 1906 was married to Ella Kruse at Belle Plaine by the Rev. Karpinsky. The young couple then purchased the farm located about one and one-half miles from Embarrass where they have lived ever since.
Survivors include the widow; 5 sons, Walter, Shawano, Hubert, Embarrass, Clarence, Cloverleaf Lakes, Edward, Clintonville and Herman, Jr., with the Army stationed in California; three daughters, Mrs. George Sonberg, Wausau, Mrs. Clifford Robley, Lund Corner, and Mrs. Gilbert Fredrick, Clintonville; one brother, August, Embarrass; one sister, Mrs. Emma Timm, Shawano; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Louis and Otto Gehrt, William Heidke, Bert Palmer, Norman Winterfeldt and Hugo Marotz.
