J. M. LEAGON DIES AT CHEROKEE.

Funeral Services Held Yesterday for One of Few Surviving Confederates in County.
J. M. Leagon, one of Cherokee county's last few surviving Confederate veterans, died about 11:30 o'clock Saturday mornnig at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Kiser, at Cherokee Falls, after an illness of several weeks.
He was 95 years, one month and 20 days old.
Mr. Leagon had lived in Cherokee township for many years and was widely-known and highly esteemed citizen.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 o'clock yesterday morning at the Hopewell Baptist church by the Rev. Feagan. Interment was in the church yard with J. L. Goodson, Blacksburg mortician, in charge.
The pall bearers, all grandsons, were Grady, Brady, Jesse, Fred and Everette Leagon, and William Kiser.
Mr. Leagon is survived by five daughters and two sons, as follows: Mrs. Amanda Revis, North Carolina; Mrs. Harriet Broom and Mrs. Charles Kiser, Cherokee Falls; Mrs. Nora Parris, Montana; Mrs. Rachel McSwain, Columbia; and Henry and William Leagon, Blacksburg. Two brothers and a half sister also survive, as follows: Brady Leagon, Dallas, N. C.; Guerney Leagon, Kings Mountain, N. C.; and Mrs. Bythia Byars, Charlotte
