Elizabeth Swengel Christopher, 86, of Elizabethtown died at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Christopher worked for many years at C.P. Electronics, was a farm wife and enjoyed gardening and working with flowers.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with the Rev. Fred Darling officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Heart Association.

Born in Columbia, Ky., June 11, 1919, Mrs. Christopher was the daughter of Lee and Maude Childers Burton. She first married Francis E. Swengel and later married John Charles Christopher.

Survivors include a son, Charles T. Swengel of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Daniel and Tom Swengel, Cindy McMath, Paula Weaver and Carrie Sidwell; great-grandchildren, Robert Swengel, Samantha and Alexandra Weaver, Kayla and Megan Miller and Katie and Ben McMath; brothers, Lee Burton of Scipio and Jadie Burton of Columbus; sisters, Bonnie Ratliff of Yakima, Wash., Louise Lee of Columbus and Pauline Perkins of Hope; and a half sister, Clara Thomas of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; a son, David E. Swengel; a brother, Frank Burton; a sister, Betty Jean Burton; and several half brothers and half sisters.
