-- CHESTER -- The funeral for Ms. Patricia Ann "Patsy" Gladden, 62, of 159 York St., was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Purity Presbyterian Church, in Chester with Dr. William Johnson officiating. Inter-ment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.

Ms. Gladden died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Chester Regional Medical Center in Chester.

A native of Chester, Ms. Gladden was born Aug. 2, 1945. She was the daughter of the late William Ross Gladden, Sr. and Elaine Rita "Ikie" Decker Gladden.

She was an alumna of Chester High, Class of 1963 and a graduate of St. John's River Junior College with an Associate Degree. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church where she served as elder, deacon, and clerk of session, member of the church choir.

At the time of her death, she was President of the Up to Date Book Club of Chester, a member of the Assembly Dance Club and charter member of The Chester Little Theatre where she has served as past director, actor and producer of various productions.

She was a member of the S.C. Spinal Cord Injury Association and a former member of the Chester Community Chorus and Chester Choral Ensemble.

She was employed by Campbell & Co., CPA as an office assistant and was previously employed as office assistant to attorney John Reid Justice including when Justice was a member of the S.C. House of Repre-sentatives.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann "Annie" Louise Frazer of Chester and she was the birth mother of Marcia Kay Thompson formerly of Aiken, currently of New York City, who was adopted by Dr. Major C. and Mary Ann Thompson; one brother, William Ross Gladden, Jr. and his wife Ruth Shugart Gladden of Chester; one sister, Pamela Gladden Carroll and her husband Joseph Allen Carroll of Lilburn, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
