Mrs. Bertha Helms, 84, of 1000 N. Garfield St., Marion, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home.

She was born Oct. 23, 1883, in Williamson County, daughter of Sell and Arabelle Daugherty Jent. Her first husband, Fred Eberhardt, died in 1912. Her second husband, Jack Helms, died in 1949.

Mrs. Helms was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Davis of Herrin; a grand-daughter, Mrs. Avon Hudson of Marion; six other grandchildren: sisters, Mrs. Oren Pate of Granite City, Mrs. Francis Felts of Garden City, Mich., and Mrs. Sarah Rea of DuQuoin; brothers Ruben of Marion, Ruel of Sesser, Rufus of West Frankfort, and Melvin of DuQuoin.

Funeral services wll be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home, Johnston City, with the Rev. Floyd Jent officiating. Burial will be in the Hook Cemetery east of Johnston City. Friends may call after 6 p.m. at the furneral home on Thursday.
