They are our original Corcoran's who started our family line in America. Patrick came from Huddersfield, England.
"Patrick served in the Civil War in the 10th Tennessee; Enlisted in Company D, Tennessee 10th Infantry Regiment." He was a prisioner of war and taken to Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL.
He died with in three days of a bacterial infection--uremia, six weeks after he moved up to Columbia. Order the book from Amazon--"The Sons of Erin", it tells of our Nashville, TN Irishmen fighting in the Civil War.
I intuite he was buried "outback on a hill" on the right [of Mary Anne E. Corcoran, grave number 5].

His parents were born in County Mayo, Ireland--the north west part of the island. (Pretty certain) Another researcher said: Loughill, Balla, County Mayo, Ireland.

My original help starting 28 months ago with PWC and EAA came from only two other serious researchers who have GEDCOM files--we are not allowed to use URL's so just Goggle their work: Melody Leigh Cox and Suzanne Alley Wilson. Patty Welch, Dawna Martinez, Teri Lynn Carter, Sheila and Cathy Henderson, Marilyn and Calvin Whittemore Adams, Linda Pilkinton and Bill Bostick are currently helping me with stories and photographs after the family moved to Columbia, TN.
During our mini family reunion April 8-12, 2012 to commemorate and dedicate a new headstone for Patrick--our first Corcoran to America. We gained 75 new documents and photographs of our extended families. Two hand-written and typed notes from Mary Charles Corcoran and Vasti Tidwell give the history of our family that MLC had originally taken from. There are inaccuracies in their story, for example, our Samuel's wife and children--are wrong. They eluded to our family being "Scotch-Irish".
In the book "The Rebel Sons of Erin" it states that the original Irish men came from Scotland and migrated to northern Ireland, then back to England and on to America. Michael Corcoran was born in Nashville in 1836 so that Corcoran (spelled our way) was already here.
Linda Pilkinton* and I believe that these two knew each other, and that PWC left NYC for Nashville and stayed with Michael; and, that these two fought in the Civil War together and were then taken prisoners up to Rock Island, Illinois where Michael died. Michael's name is engraved on a stone there.
Linda said that after Patrick's dad died early, that he left at age 14 or 16 by himself, and worked his way over the ocean on a transport ship and landed in NYC.
Patrick, one of seven children of Michael and Martha is the only one who left England. Later, a nephew Harry Corcoran visited his daughter in Canada. He was the son of Michael Corcoran, Jr., PWC's brother. Harry's daughter--Edith Alice Corcoran left England and married a fella, William Charles Hebner in Canada. These two died in prob, Turtle Valley, British Columbia, Canada after 1921 and 1951. Would love to learn more about this family.
It is thought that Patrick was the only Corcoran to go so far "out west". What an adventurous fella he must have been, determined and strong-willed.
It took our Patrick 9 years to migrate from New York City down to Lawrencebug. There is a NYC Emmigrant bank account in Patrick Corcoran's name. We have family lore* that he lived in Nashville for a while.
