Born in Uganda, on August 15, 1929, the Rt. Rev. Misaeri Kauma, Former Bishop of the Anglican Namirembe Diocese from 1985 till 1994, was originally a teacher at Bishop Senior School, Mukono.

Marrying Geraldine Rita Nabuli Nsubuga on Saturday, December 15, 1956, at St. Phillip's Church, Mukono, by Canon Bill Butler, Misaeri Kauma was ordained a deacon on December 14. 1964, by the Rt. Rev. Leslie Brown Bishop of Namirembe Diocese. Graduating from Durham University, England, in 1968, he served as refugee secretary for All Africa Conference of Churches from 1970 to 1973 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Principal of the Bishop Tucker Theological College from 1973 till 1975, he was consecrated bishop on June 29, 1975, and was enthroned as Bishop of the Namirembe Diocese on February 17, 1985. The President of Uganda Milton Obote attended the ceremony. Chairman of the Uganda Aids Commission, the Bishop retired from office in 1994, and died at 3 am., on October 7, 1997, aged 68, of heart failure, at Mengo Hospital. Interment took place on October 10, at the Namirembe St. Paul's Cathedral grounds of Kampala.
