Services for Mrs. Anna Catherine Behrends were held at the Kress Methodist Church. She died at her home near Kress. Born in Germany, she moved to the United States with her parents in 1869, settling in Pocahontas County, Iowa. She had been a member of the Lutheran Church for 57 years. She was laid to rest beside her husband who preceded her in death. Survived by eight children - Grace Saathoff, Mattie Ricklif, Lydia Sjogren, Anna Mosely, Henry G, Andrew, Rank, and George Behrends; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters - Mrs. George Assing, Mrs. Fred Carson, Mrs. B. Selfkin, Lydia Willard, Mrs. Henry Welmers.
