After Nora's sister 'Ella' (Anna Louella [nee Bails] Shriver) died in October 1918 of the Spanish Flu Pandemic at age just 40, 'Aunt Nora' took in two of her sister's sons (Arthur and Dick) to raise them for a while, until their own father was able to them back in (he had four other children at the time).

Nora and Ernest had one child of their own, a daughter Dorothy, born in 1901, who is also buried in Chillicothe, Illinois.
In the 1920 Census, Dorothy was age 19, single, and living with her mother, father, and now also maternal grandmother Eliza Miller (nee Hall) Bails at age 59.
In the 1930 Census, Dorothy is age 27 and living with Louis Archer of Oklahoma, also age 27, in Grand Canyon, Coconino, Arizona.
In the 1940 Census, Dorothy is age 38 and divorced, last residence being Winslow, Arizona, current residence back in Chillicothe, Illinois.
