Pittsfield and Old Town: Helen Elina (Anderson) Hadley went home to her Lord a day after her 94th birthday, Thursday evening December 6, 2007 at Sebasticook Valley Nursing Care Facility in Pittsfield with her only child and youngest grandchild at her bedside. Helen was born in Bangor December 5, 1913 the daughter of Peter C. and Annie (Anderson) Anderson as a first generation Swede born in America. Helen graduated from Bangor High School in the class of 1931. She married Amos Leroy Hadley of Eddington Bend on June 5, 1937 and devoted her life to him and their home. Their only child was born in 1943 against doctor's orders and at great sacrifice to her own health. Helen was baptized as Grace Methodist Church in Bangor and regularly attended Old Town United Methodist Church until she was unable due to health.

Helen is survived by her devoted daughter Linda Jenkins of Etna, grandchildren, Vicki Doane and her partner Scott Buckland of Goffstown, NH, Kristi Cournoyer of Manchester, NH, Andrew Cota and his wife Lynne of Conway, NH, Nikki Doucet and her husband Joe of Etna, her only great grandchild Heather Katherine Cournoyer of Manchester, NH. Helen is also survived by brothers-in-law Alton Hadley of Gorham, ME and Harold Hadley of Walnut Grove, CA, sisters-in-law Freda Hadley Vanidestine of Bangor, Mary Hadley of Brewer Lake, and a favorite cousin, Gloria Tipton of Sumter, SC. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and a cousin Jeanette Stevens and her husband Bill of Gardner, ME.

Helen was predeceased by her parents her husband Amos on October 11, 1998, a sister Olga Anderson a brother Francis Anderson and a stillborn infant.
It was Helen's wish to be cremated and be interred with her husband at her Anderson family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor in the spring. (Brown Funeral Home on-line)
