The son of Stefan and Mariana (Maraduez) Biela who emigrated from Poland around the 1900's, died at 64 years, 8 months and 1 day; John was loyal and faithful father of three. He married (1) circa 1940, Adele Irene Charette, b. 27 Feb. 1920, d. 3 Aug. 1964, 3 children; (2) circa 1960, Mae O'Connor, b. unk, d. unk., no children; (3) circa 1970, Anne M. Marceluk b 1916, d. 2000, no children.

HOLYOKE - John S. Biela, 64, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Holyoke, died Sunday morning in a Gainesville, Fla., hospital. Born in Holyoke, he served in the Merchant Marines for 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Leesburg. He leaves his wife, Anne M. (Marceluk) Biela of Leesburg; a son, Harry of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Joan Petcen of Northampton and Joyce Straw of Florence; four brothers, Casimir of South Hadley, Henry of Holyoke, Edward J. of Fort Worth, Tesas, and Anthony of Aldenville; two sisters, Julia Biela of Aldenville and Stella Dupuis of Leesburg. The funeral will be Tuesday morning in St. Paul's Catholic Church with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, both in Leesburg. The Beyers funeral home, Leesburg in in charge.

During World War II John served in the Merchant Marine in the Pacific Theater; at one time post war he was a third officer aboard the Liberty Ship 0730 John S. Pillsbury WSAT (550) USAT and while it was moored in East Boston for repairs their apartment in Holyoke caught on fire. The family. having a difficult time securing a new apartment with three small children, found a temporary home in the captain's quarters of the Liberty Ship John S. Pillsbury.
