Sylvia Kimmons Marr, 94, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Baptist Village Nursing Home.
Born in Bristol, March 12, 1917, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. She had been a storekeeper at Sylvia's Grocery for over 30 years, had sold Kirby Vacuum Cleaners with which she had won numerous awards and had also worked with her late husband, John L. Marr, in their business, Marr's Carpet. She was a life-time member of Bristol Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school. She loved to garden and quilt and dearly loved her church.
She was a daughter of the late W. H. "Bill" and Buna Vista Foster Kimmons. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Clay Kimmons, and by a son-in-law, Buddy Bryant.
Survivors include her son, Dan Bennett, Waycross; four daughters, Margaret (Bud) Burnette, Richmond, VA, Carol Bryant, Bristol, Sue (Dan) Johnston, Richmond and Kay (Lucious) Yeomans, Bristol; 10 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, from the Bristol Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Bristol Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday.
