Joel was a Revolutionary War Soldier and married Chloe Reed about 1780 in Hartland, Connecticut. He was the son of Nathaniel Clark & Martha Witte. Operated a saw mill on Plum Creek near Russell, St. Lawrence County, New York in the fall of 1805. In 1819 the family settled on the Little Toby in Jefferson County, Pennyslvania. Joel & Chloe had the following children; Willys, Philetus, Elihu, Chloe, Joel Jr., & Philander Clark.
