Funeral services were held for Nora L. Appelen of Canby, Minnesota on Tuesday October 25 at 11 A.M. at the Marble Lutheran Church, Pastor Thurow officiating. Mrs. Appelen died October 22 at the Senior Haven Nursing Home in Canby, where she had been a resident.

Organist was Brenda Bake, who accompanied Margaret Olsen as she sang "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Beyond the Sunset." The congregation sang "Jesus, Saviour Pilot Me."

Pallbearers were Harvey Koopman, Mark Koopman, Edgar Holm, LeRoy Anderson, Gordon Halverson and Clarence Husby. Interment was in the Marble Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Appelen was born November 27, 1900, in Northwood, Iowa to Ness Peterson of Denmark and Mary Rassmussen of Denmark. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Iowa and comfirmed at Marble Lutheran Church in 1914.

She moved to Lincoln County in 1904 with her family. She was married on March 12, 1926, in Canby to Tobias Appelen, they farmed in Marble township until retiring in 1967. They then moved to Hendricks for 31/2 years, moving then to Canby to their own home for two years. For the past 4 ½ years, they have lived at the Senior Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband Tobias; sisters Mrs. Clara Sandro of Hendricks and Mrs. Mary Appelen of Canby; niece Mrs. Harvey Koopman of Hendricks; and nephews Orlan Sandro of Hendricks and Edgar Holm of Gary, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lewis.
