John Paul Batchelor 1922-2009

John Paul Batchelor, 87, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peaefully at home on June 25, 2009. He was born June 9, 1922 in American Fork to John Shirley and Mildred Earl Batchelor. He married, Alice Marie Haney Oct. 26, 1946, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, June 16, 1964. John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Geneva Steel for over 20 years. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and was an avid rock hound. John is survived by his four children; Jeff (Karry), Payson; Teresa (Bill) Farley, American Fork; Connie (Scott) Carlson, Pleasant Grove; Claudia (Fred) Chadwick, Highland; 20 grandchildren, 54 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Richard, Phillip and Jim, and sister, Orel Bickmore. Preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center Chapel, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church one hour prior to services. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 72. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
