GAINESBORO Funeral
Services for Paul E. Birdwell, 89, of Whitleyville, were held
at 1 p.m. today, Tues., Dec. 5, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was in Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County.
Mr. Birdwell died on Sun., Dec. 3, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1911, in Jackson County to the late Joseph Bedford and Ina Shoulders Birdwell. Mr. Birdwell was a retired banker and community and civic leader.
He was married to the former Mary Jo Meadows, who died on Oct. 24, 1977. Mr.Birdwell was a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ in Jackson County. He was
a former president and chairman of the board of Jackson Bank & Trust and a former interim manager, board member and chairman of the board of Upper Cumberland electric Membership Corp.
His family includes four sons and daughters-in-law,
Paul Draper and Gail Birdwell of Southaven, Miss., Dr. Ben J. and Peggy Birdwell of Nashville, Jim N. and Sharon
Birdwell of Whitleyville, and Gary and Betty Gene Birdwell of Marietta, Ga.; nine grandchildren;onegreatgrandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter G.Birdwell Sr.; and two sisters, Bennie and Rubye Dudney.
Tom Bilbrey, Jim N. Birdwell and David Langhans officiated at the services.
