He entered the Army 1942, after a year at William Jewell College, Liberty, MO and served as an x-ray technician in the Phillipines. He married Nella Drue Damman, 9 Nov 1948 and they have three surviving children: Janeille Shaw, Rev. Paul A McKim and Rebecca Lepak.
