"Bill" graduated from Grant City High School and William Jewell College. He served in the U.S. Navy 1943-1945. He worked for Federal Aviation Administration in Investigation Security. He also pastored several Southern Baptist Churches. He married L. Jeannette McConnell, 9 Jan 1943 and they have five surviving children: Judy Snyder, Daniel McKim, Barbara Vescovo, Melody Jerden and Stephen McKim.
