Dock was the son of James Harvey Lamm and Martha Lucnda Biggs.
He was raised in the Tidwell Commuity in Hunt county, Texas. His father was a farmer, teacher, and a Presbyterian circuit rider. His father's preaching caused him to be away from home for long extended time. During his father's absence his mother occasionally had to protect the livestock form Wolves and wildcats.
Dock had seven brothers and 4 sisters.
Walter Lee who died on August 09, 1863 in Graves County, Kentucky, he was one years old, William David (Will), Luther Winslow he was almost a year old when they made the move, John Adams, Joseph Thomas (Joe),Emory Caleb) (Em), James Harvey (Harv), Annie Elizabeth, Ida May, Martha Elizabeth(Bet) and Mary Alice.
He married Verna Izeta Bone on June 02, 1910, in Miller Grove, TX
