Leonardo "Leon" Aguirre of Olden, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ted Nawarskas officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home.

Leon was born in Coleman, Texas on April 6, 1934.

He served his country proudly for 23 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; The Purple Heart; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm (Unit Citation Three Awards) Bronze Stars Medal with second Oak Leaf Clusters and Air Medal.

He was also a member of the VFW Local Chapter in Eastland, Texas.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo Aguirre and Irene Rodriguez Aguirre and sister Celia Aguirre Gonzales.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Wilma M. Aguirre of Killeen, Texas, two daughters: Linda Robinson and Cynthia Humphreys-Aguirre; two sons: Tommy Aguirre and Jeffery Aguirre and seven grandchildren; Brothers, Ben Aguirre of Abilene, Raymond Aguirre of Houston, Johnny Aguirre of Abilene; Sisters, Irene Aguirre of Abilene, Cecilia Germain of St. Claire, Michigan and Toni Herrera of Abilene.
