She was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Bedford County, daughter of the late John W. Forbes, Sr. and Cornelia Welch Forbes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward Lee Cohron, daughter-in-law, Ella Jane Halterman Cohron, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Cohron was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Louise Diehl Sunday School Class. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a role model for her entire family and her hospitality was extended to everyone.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley McCray and her husband, Fred; two sons, Larry L. Cohron and his friend, Elizabeth Henkel and David Cohron and his wife, Linda, all of Stuarts Draft; one sister, Doris Forbes Almarode; two brothers, John W. Forbes, Jr. and Nathaniel H. Forbes, all of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Karla McCray Hallock and her husband, Brad, David Nicholas Cohron and his wife, Ines, E. June Cohron, Gregory Alan Cohron, Leigh Ann Cohron Hinson and her husband, Michael Hinson Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Hinson, Katelyn Hallock, Michael Hinson, III, Jenna Hallock and Emma Cohron; a foster great-grandson, John Vest and a foster great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Vest.
A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. B. Failes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, in the church and following the service in the social hall.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews, Dr. J. W. Forbes, III, Clifton Reed Forbes, James E. Brumfield, Alfred L. Hatfield, T. Randal Almarode and Gene R. Kane.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews, members of the Louise Diehl Sunday School Class, Ray Weaver and Paul Johnson, Jr.
