Funeral services for Mrs. John Logan, 59, who died late Thursday of last week in a Des Moines hospital following an operation performed the preceding day for removal of a tumor, were held in Traer, where she grew to womanhood and received her education, Tuesday. A large gathering of relatives and old friends paid to her their final tribute amid a profusion of flowers in the auditorium of the Ripley Congregational church, the Rev. H. O. Allen, pastor, conducting the service, assisted by a male quartet. Burial was in West Union cemetery. Mrs. Logan, whose maiden name was Minnie B. Campbell, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, deceased, pioneers of north Tama. Born June 25, 1869, in Old Buckingham, she came to Traer with the family shortly after the founding of the town. She attended the local school and was married here October 30, 1889, to John Logan. The couple remained in Traer until 1908. Three children were born to the union, all of whom, with the husband, survive. They are Helen wife of J. Van Buskirk, of Allendorf, Iowa; Lulu, wife of Ward McCreary, of Perry, Iowa; and John Logan Jr., of Des Moines. There are also five grandchildren, all daughters of Mrs. Buskirk, and a stepson, J. W. Logan, Traer banker.
Many years ago, Mrs. Logan united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Bradgate, Iowa, and retained this membership until her death. She was long active in Christian work and in her home showed the Christian graces as a wife and mother. For the last four years Storm Lake, Iowa, has been the Logan home, and it was from here, after a three months' illness, that Mrs. Logan went to Des Moines for the operation which was followed by her death.
Mrs. Logan Is survived by three brothers and four sisters. Those who were able to be here for the funeral service Tuesday are Cedric Campbell, of Washington, D. C.; Logan Campbell, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Lola Watts, of Long Beach, California. The others are John C. Campbell, of Sherwood, North Dakota; Mrs. Jean Dempsey and Mrs. A. L. Ogden, both of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Mabel Kennedy, of Long Beach, California. Other relatives here from a distance for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Logan, of Lohrville; Mr. and Mrs. Horace Logan, Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. John Logan Jr., Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ward McCreary, Perry, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. Van Buskirk and children, Jessie and Dorothy, of Allendorf.
