J. A. Scarborough, 65, of 251 Moss Ave., died at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital Thursday morning at 8:10 o'clock after an extended illness. He was a native of Webster County, and had made his home in Jackson for the past 24 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Gertie Jay Scarborough of Jackson; three daughters, Mrs. Ed S. Goodin of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs Chester C. Eaker of Vicksburg, and Mrs. Kent Payne of Shannon, Miss., three sons, Major Wesley W. Scarborough of Fort Bragg, N.C., Melvin O. Scarborough of Meridian, and James Anthony Scarborough of State College; five brothers, Alton Scarborough, Mathiston; Wilbur Scarborough, Eupora; Watson Scarborough, Calhoun City; Robert Scarborough, and Jim Scarborough, both of Eupora; seven sisters, Mrs. Rufus Hill, Mrs. Lois Helms, Mrs. Kimbrough Carroll, all of Eupora, Mrs. Bill Windham of Columbus, Mrs. Charles Shaw of Hernando, Miss Ruby Scarborough of Cumberland, and Miss Frances Scarborough of St. Petersburg, Fla., and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel Friday morning at 11:00 o'clock with Rev. Bill Causey, pastor of Parkway Baptist Church, officiating.

Active pallbearer are J. C. Harris, Leon Pennington, Jack Coughlin, M. Beckham, Galloway Austin, Doug Pitts, C. L. Weston, and T. D. Jayroe. Honorary pallbearers are John Oxner, J.B. Upton, Nat J. Hovious, Houston Howie, Brock Day, and Woodrow Bailey.

Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
