Daniel Walters bradshaw Jr. was born an 4 May 1918 in Tremonton, Utah, the first chaild and only son of Daniel Walters and Irene Lenora Tyner Bradshaw. He was raised in the Tremonton area and graduated from Bear River High School and attended the Utah State Agricultural College (Utah State University).

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed working with the youth. He was an Eagle Scout and worked with the Boy Scouts of America with S. Dillworth Young at Camp Kiesel. He was also a director of the Explorer's Yacht Club on Pine View reservior.

He was always very protective of his three younger sisters Helen, Marie and Lillian. As they grew older and started to attend dances in the area he was always their escort. Helen was always the first on his dance card and as the other two sisters became older they also took their place on his dance card much to the dispare of the other girls at the dance. If he was dancing and saw one of his sisters sitting along the wall he would excuse himself from his partner and finish the dance with his sister.

He married Elsie McKay on 12 May 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Unfortunately their marriage would last for less than a year due to his being killed in action in Germany. Elsie always said that their marriage was very happy no matter how short it was.

He enlisted in the United States Army in June of 1941. He was sent to Camp Roberts, California for basic training. Upon graduation he recieved is corporal chevrons and was selected for officers training. He next went to Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia as well as Washington and Lee University and was commisioned a 2nd Leiutenant.

He was assigned to the 44th Infantry Division, 114th Infantry Regiment and left for the European Theater of War in September 1942. The division landed in France via Cherbourg on 15 Sep 1944. They joined the 7th Army Group in their drive to open passes through the Vosges Mountains to gain entry into Germany. They were engaged in several heavy battles with the Germans where they did not yeild, earning them the nickname "The Fighting 44th".

On 18 April 1945 the 44th Division joined the battle to capture the city of Ehingen in Baden-Wurttemburg located in southeastern Germany. Leiut. Bradshaw was killed in action on 22 Apr 1945, the day before the city fell. He was burried there but his remains were sent home after the war was over. He now rests with honor next to his mother and father in the Ogden City Cemetery.
