Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Collins, who was found dead in her bed at the home of Mrs. W.E. Ditto, 5827 Prospect, Dallas, Sunday morning, were held Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the City Cemetery in Athens.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Theodore Porter Ball, priest in charge, St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Interment was in the family plot.
Pallbearers were Forrest Shelby, Raymond Robbins, W.W. Spencer, Eugene Spencer and George Collins.
The Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Collins, born on July 22, 1856, was the former Miss Anna Word, daughter of the late Col. and Mrs. T.J. Word of Palestine. She was married to John Collins of Athens, member of a pioneer Henderson County family, and following his death went to West Texas, where she had made her home with a daughter, the late Mrs. Hiley Boyd, for thirty-eight years. Mrs. Boyd was the former Miss Margaret Collins. Mrs. Collins had resided in Dallas for the past four years.
Surviving are one son, J.C. Collins of Brownsville; four grandchildren, Mrs. John Keathey of Los Angeles, Mrs. Richard Snider of Clayton, New Mexico, Mrs. Kirk Dean of Lubbock, H.T. Boyd Jr. of Lovington, New Mexico, and three great-grandchildren.
