Born in Cleveland County on March 11, 1936, he was a son of the late William Lawrence and Helen Elizabeth Ward Brackett. He retired as a mechanic and maintenance planner for Fiber Industries. He was a member of Lawndale United Methodist Church and Lawndale Masonic Lodge #486.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Brackett, a brother-in-law, Grady Allen and a nephew, Bill Hord.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis Richards Brackett of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Billie Brackett of Lawndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dan Boggs, Sr. of Polkville, two grandchildren, Dan Boggs, Jr. and Corey Brackett; six sisters and five brother-in-laws, Marlene Allen of Clarksville, Georgia, Shirley and Bruce Hord, Diane and Harry Mauney and Patty and Mike Hamrick, all of Shelby, Betty and Dennis Towery and Linda and Wayne Blackburn, all of Lawndale; four nieces, eight nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
