Loretta Adeline Schurr, 85, of South Haven died Saturday, December 25 at River Ridge Retirement Community in South Haven. Franklin Schurr, 85, also of South Haven died November 13, 2010. She was born July 9, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Philip and Adeline (Mrugacz) Wagner. Loretta left school after 8th grade to work at Admiral Radio and a bakery in Chicago – to help support her family. After returning to South Haven, she worked at Everett Piano. She married Franklin Schurr on May 15, 1948 at St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. Together they owned and operated Phoenix Inn and Jericho Grocery. Loretta loved her family, her church-St Basil's and her polka music. She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Franklin Schurr. Her son – Robert Schurr, three brothers – Edward and Adolf Wagner and Phil Wyszynski. She is survived by her children – Donna (Richard) Retberg of South Haven, Michigan, Richard (Catherine Shepard) Schurr of Walnut Springs, Texas, Dawn (Rick) Olsen of San Antonio, Texas and Denise (Brian) Wilder of Pelkie, Michigan. 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. 5 sisters – Mae (Leon) Steinmiller, Dorothy (Roland) Getman, Violet (Bob) Scott and Lillian Valind all of South Haven, Michigan and Genevive Johnson of Decatur, Michigan also survive. Visitation for both Frank and Loretta, will be from 6 - 8 on Wednesday, December 29 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial for both will take place at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Catholic Church or South Haven's Hospice at Home.
