Mr. Hobbs died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 in Athens.
He was born Jan. 17, 1924 in Murchison to Albert, Sr. and Mae Cox Hobbs, and was a resident of Athens most of his life.
He married Earline Taylor in 1943. Albert was employed by Lone Star Producing Company until his retirement in 1970, when he became well-known in the oil and gas business as an independent operator.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years Earline Hobbs, Athens; son Dan Hobbs and wife Rose Marie, Naperville, Ill.; daughter Janelle Bowland, Athens; brothers Roy C. Hobbs, Big Spring, Jimmy Hobbs, Houston; sister-in-law J. Lynn Allen, Athens; grandchildren Kelly and wife Ginger, Jennifer Jandora, Jennifer Hobbs, Ashley Bowland and Trevor Bowland; six great-grandchildren.
