Roy Curtis Hobbs, 95, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 in a Lubbock hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring with Rev. Mark Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, March 27, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.

Roy was born February 13, 1922 in Colorado City, Texas and married Mary Lee Tidmore March 9, 1942 in Tyler Texas. She preceded him in death January 20, 2006.

He came to Big Spring in 1970.

Roy was a member of the Kiwanis Club and The Lions Club.

He worked for the Lone Star Gas Company, retiring after 37 years.

Roy also served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Big Spring and also served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Hallettsville.

Roy loved to play dominoes and any card game including Joker.

Roy is survived by two daughters; Paula Altman and husband, Bill of Stanton and Royce June Underwood and husband, Brownie of Andrews: five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Albert Hobbs, Sr. and Callie May Cox Hobbs, five siblings, Vivian Howard, Carmen Hobbs, Stanley Hobbs, Albert Hobbs, Jr., and Jimmie Cox Hobbs and an infant son, John Paul Hobbs.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Circle Six Baptist Encampment, P.O. Box 976, Stanton, Texas 79782 or a favorite charity.
